Elon Musk Tweets ‘Time to Break Up Amazon’

Musk reacts after the company allegedly refused to publish a skeptical book about COVID-19.

CEO and founder of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, has taken to Twitter to post his thoughts once again. This time, he’s calling for e-commerce giant Amazon to be “broken up.”

The call comes after Amazon’s publishing service allegedly refused to publish a book by an author who shares his skeptical views of COVID-19, claiming conspiracy theories and falsehoods surrounding the virus’ outbreak.

A matter of opinion

“Time to break up Amazon. Monopolies are wrong!”, stated Musk’s tweet in which he also tagged Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, and called the situation “insane.”

Musk was responding to the situation in which Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing service turned down Alex Berenson’s book called “Unreported Truths about COVID-19 and Lockdowns.”

Berenson, former New York Times reporter, posted a tweet that showed a screenshot of Amazon’s refusal email saying the company “censored” his book. The screenshot shows the publishing services’ reasons for not publishing, which stated the book “did not comply with its guidelines.”

Amazon ultimately reinstated the book for publishing, which Berenson triumphantly tweeted, acknowledging thanks to Musk for his support.

Berenson is known for being outspoken about his theories on COVID-19 and that the responses to the outbreak have been blown out of proportion, despite experts’ evidence.

Musk seems to be of a similar frame of mind when it comes to the outbreak, as he initially called the measures “dumb” and that they were a “panic.” Musk also tried to push for his Tesla Fremont plant in California to open earlier than what the lockdown and officials stated as safe.
